First day out of 6 without new snow - excellent soft groomed conditions

Crystal Mt. 12/18/13 Wednesday

Arrived by noon - no hurry no fresh snow this morning.
Found excellent groomed soft conditions, mostly cloudy 23 degrees.
Rode for an hour and a half non -stop. Schooled at backside 180s converting them from a butter slide to an Ollie. Getting the muscle memory down and still working on the muscle strength to get more pop between the board and the ground.
That might be it on the slopes for awhile. Heading back down state for the Holidays and Family stuff.
Got to love the season pass  - come and go as you please, stay long, stay short. I don't feel like I have to ride 8 hours to get my $60.00 worth.

WOW!

Sunday 12/15/13 Boyne Mt.

WOW! Another epic day this time at Boyne Mountain.
Fresh snow over night made my first tracks very enjoyable even though I started late. Hooked up with Scott and we spent the next five plus hours looking for untracked powder.
Bonus time around 12:30-1:00 a heavy burst of snow fell and probably dumped up to 5 inches so again we were able to easily seek out the fresh powder and leave our marks. Epic day! Great meeting up with Scott and enjoying the day with him.

First Snowboard session of the 2013/2014 season

Monday 12/9/2013 , First Snowboard session of the 2013/2014 season

Mt Holly had about 80% of the terrain covered and discounted lift tickets.
Conditions were nice with all of the snow manufactured and nicely groomed with a coating of an inch or so of fresh dry powder.
First time out and it felt good. Nothing's been lost, I could still do all my tricks from last year and added a back side 180 followed by a quick 180 front side Ollie. Good fun and  good place to learn these freestyle moves.

Time:  3:00 - 6:16 non-stop action.
Conditions: Windy with medium snow falling, winds from W up to 20 mph. Nicely groomed with 1 inch of fresh snow through out the evening.

Start of the Winter Board Sessions First Ice-Skate-Kite Session.

Saturday 11/30/2013 , First Ice Kite Session.

Harry gave me a call about noon saying there is black ice thick enough to hold weight at the South River Road DNR launch site. He's been out on his 3 meter 2 line trainer kite and hockey skates for an hour. During a break he gave me a call to join in.
I was instantly there and by 1:00 I was on the ice with a 3 meter 2 line trainer kite and my hockey skates definitely bare bones in gear.
We had a blast sprinting around taking short tacks due to small safe ice area. Definitely a Slicesport with sharp skate blades a necessity.
Had fun in this being my first ever ice skate/kite session.

Conditions: Winds from he S-SW up to 20 mph. Smooth Ice.
Gear: Hockey skates and 3 meter 2 line kite.
Weather: Mostly sunny, 35 degrees.
